This Week in the Nintendo eShop
While whispers of E3 and Splatoon excitement might be dominating Nintendo’s landscape, the eShop still has some new releases this week, spearheaded by the interesting Wii U platformer Adventures of Pip, which is made by former WayForward staff. The rest of the lineup this week is primarily a bunch of DSiWare games and Wii U eShop games with “Cube” in the title. The biggest 3DS release is the eShop version of Lord of Magna: Maiden Heaven, a strategy RPG from Xseed.
Adventures of Pip ($14.99)
From ex-WayForward staff, Adventures of Pip is a neat 2D platformer where you control a pixel named Pip. Pip’s trying to stop the vile Queen DeRezzia who has kidnapped the princess and threatened to destroy the world. Pip quickly gains the ability to evolve/devolve between three different forms: a small pixel, a nimble, wall-jumping 8-bit character, and a combat-focused 16-bit character. It opens up a lot of really interesting puzzles and challenges as you switch between the three forms. Also, it has a soundtrack by Jake “virt” Kaufman, so that’s wonderful.
